Work at Dan's: Director of Photo & Imaging Services
Dan’s Camera City has a full-time opportunity for our Director of Photo & Imaging Services. This is an exciting, wide-ranging position that coordinates with both our Photo Lab and our Photo Ops departments. The role includes:
Oversight and coordination of the School Photos, Imaging Lab, Seasonal Photos, and Shipping departments - collaborating with the managers of each department to increase our sales and profitability.
Assessing each area for efficiency and quality, implementing training and staff development for continuous improvement.
Collaborating with the Directors of Technology, Retail Operations, and other departments as appropriate to ensure all areas are meeting the goals of the business.
Coordinate overall staffing initiatives - hiring, training, scheduling, mentoring - between all related departments. Maximize skill sets, availability, and opportunities in the best interest of staff and Dan’s.
Teaming with staff members to ensure they are equipped and prepared to engage their responsibilities in an upbeat and professional manner.
- Coordinate routine department meetings having department lead review daily items while adding in longer term and strategic insights and directives.
- Provide bi-weekly feedback for full staff meetings with relevant examples and specific staff accomplishments.
Proactively engaging customers to explore opportunities for growth and improvements in our offerings, and to leverage our various departments to all customers.
Seeking out opportunities to improve our marketing efforts for each department, and assisting in the planning and execution of marketing initiatives.
Working with vendors to maximize our systems while increasing capabilities and efficiencies.
Monitoring sales and expenses of each area to evaluate performance and effect of efforts.
Pursuing opportunities to participate in business & personal development opportunities both industry-specific and local initiatives.
Specifics by department
School Photos
- Acquisition of new schools for photos, yearbooks, and other services.
- Planned communication and visits to garner a meeting.
- Enhance the relationships with partner schools to ensure they remain our customers.
- Routine and frequent communication with and visits to each school.
- Expand the range and quantity of services and products our schools use us for.
- Create rapport to uncover additional needs and opportunities.
- Be familiar with all services and products, and have materials ready to plant suggestions as often as possible.
- Coordinate partner schools' use of their credits and our other support programs, suggesting improvements to our offerings.
- Ensure our products and services are competitive in the marketplace and actively seek ways to differentiate Dan’s.
Imaging Lab
- Research, development, and launch of new imaging services, both to DCC customers and wholesale partners.
- Ensure continued training of staff to be able to work proficiently in all areas of the lab.
- Look for opportunities to increase the quality of our work, review remake orders and waste for opportunities for improvement.
- Develop a YES attitude and collaborative spirit among all staff.
- Analyze workflow to determine if turnarounds and staffing levels are appropriate
- Seasonal review of product offerings for customer appeal, profitable yet competitive pricing, and efficient workflow systems.
- Routine review of DansPictureWorks for accuracy, and opportunities for improvement.
Seasonal Photos
- Grow our volume and profitability of seasonal photos initiatives year over year.
- Coordinate all staffing considerations including recruiting, training, and ongoing development of skills.
- Cultivate and maintain excellent relationships with current and potential partners.
- Proactively seek options to streamline and improve systems and workflow.
- Ensure all equipment is functional and efficient for the tasks required.
- Constantly evaluate our offerings for opportunities to better serve customers and increase our appeal.
