Our first trip to Martin Guitar sold out in just a few days, so we're running this popular trip a second time.

Join Dan’s for an exclusive Photo Expedition to Martin Guitar, in Nazareth PA. You’ll start with a hands-on class at Dan’s to introduce the photo techniques of table top product photography, elements of great composition, and photo journalism. The exclusive, 2-hour photo tour of the Martin factory will follow a few days later. With the guidance of Dan’s instructors, you’ll photograph the process of turning wood into beautiful guitars, and many other photo opportunities. As a bonus, at the end of the tour you’ll photograph several special guitars from the Martin collection in a professional studio setup provided by Dan’s experts.

Lighting for product photography, using light modifiers, controlling glare and reflection.
On-location techniques for shooting in low-light, reducing noise, and adjusting white balance.
Successful metering in tricky lighting conditions.
Techniques for controlling depth of field.
Elements of striking composition, designing your photos to catch the viewer’s eye.
Photojournalistic methods for capturing multiple images to tell a story.

This Expedition is ideal for anyone who wants to take better table top product images, improve their composition skills, and communicate though photos. And naturally, if you enjoy music there are plenty of unique opportunities in this trip. You’ll also be able to submit your images for possible publication in Martin Guitar’s newsletter, The Sounding Board.

This Expedition is open to users of any brand camera. The class at Dan’s will cover general camera settings, and our experts will gladly assist you in locating the specific settings on your camera after the class and at the shoot.

Minimum gear required:

A camera with manual control of exposure and white balance, ISO setting of at least 1600, macro capability, and manual flash override. Flash photography is not permitted.
