Sports Photography with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms
February 7 & 9 - This exciting sports & action photo expedition features the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Lehigh Valley's own hockey team!
Sports photography of any kind is full of challenges. The hands-on expedition will give you a solid approach to getting the shot and telling an action-packed story with your pictures.
Wednesday, we'll be joined by our Sony rep and all-around awesome sports shooter, Jason Etzel, for an online classroom session to provide you with tools and techniques to help you be more successful when shooting these fast-paced events.
You’ll learn about:
- Freezing the action
- Anticipating movement
- Getting better focus
- Keying on specific players
- Telling a compelling story
Then on Friday we’ll meet at the PPL Center to photograph a Phantoms game, full of fast action and exciting photo opportunities. With exclusive access you’ll get to shoot like a professional sports photographer, right up close to the action. Our instructors will be there to help you put your new skills into practice, so you can grab great action shots you’ll be proud of.

Our friends from Sony will be bringing some amazing cameras and lenses for you to try out, for free, during the game.
Special considerations for this outing
- Dress warmly, it's a bit chilly in the arena!
- Wear comfortable walking shoes, it's a bit of a walk from the press box to ice-level.
- You must be at least 14 years of age to participate in this workshop.
