Tips for Mac Users
There's a few small differences in our standard systems for Macintosh users. Here's a few tips to help you out.
Ordering prints online from pictures stored in iPhoto
iPhoto makes it easy to manage your pictures by keeping them all together in one place. Here's a quick way to get those photos back out when you want to order prints or photo gifts from Dan's.
- Create a new folder on the Desktop. We're just going to use that to hold copies of your pictures to order, so call it whatever makes sense to you.
- In iPhoto, drag each picture you want to order out of the main iPhoto window and into the folder you made on the Desktop.
- Open your web browser and use the link on our website to order your photos. If this is your first time using the online ordering system, you may be prompted to install Silverlight to continue.
- Click the "Add Photos" button, then navigate to the new folder you just created. Select all the photos in that folder. Click OK, and your photos should be listed in the uploader window.
- Click the "Upload" button on the right to begin sending us your photos. That's it!
- Once you're done uploading, you can delete the folder you made on the Desktop.

Use a USB thumb drive or portable hard drive
- Make sure the drive has not been re-formatted to be Mac-specific. USB thumb drives are compatible with both Macintosh and Windows computers by default, but if you've erased the drive, you might have chosen to reformat it to be Macintosh-only.
- Plug in your drive. It should appear on your Desktop when it's ready.
- Drag your pictures from iPhoto onto the drive icon on your Desktop, just like we described in the previous section.
- When you've copied all the pictures you want, drag the drive icon to the Trash. (note how the Trash icon changes into the Eject icon) When the icon disappears, it's safe to unplug the drive.
Burn a CD or DVD

the Burn Folder appears as a blank, untitled disc in your desktop
When you burn a CD in iPhoto, it creates a backup of a portion of you iPhoto library complete with thumbnails, titles, keywords, and other information . It's a great way to archive photos in your library, but it's not the best way to use your photos on other computers like our photo ordering kiosks. To burn a disc for use with other computers, we'll have to use the Finder instead. It's almost the same as using a USB thumb drive.
- Put a blank CD or DVD in your computer. Your disc will show up on your desktop as what's called a Burn Folder - a temporary holding spot for the files you'll burn to that disc.
- In iPhoto, find the photos you want and drag them to that Burn Folder.
- Go back and open the Burn Folder, and click the Burn button in the upper right corner.
