Digital Camera Buying Guide

Memory Cards

Most cameras include one low capacity card which will only store a few photos. Purchasing higher capacity cards allow you to shoot dozens to hundreds of pictures (even at high resolution). After transferring the photos to your computer you can erase and reuse the card.

Dan's stocks Compact Flash, Memory Stick, Multi Media, SD and XD cards, plus mini CD-R disks for the Sony CD models. Call or stop by for current availability and price.

Rechargeable Batteries

Digital cameras consume power very quickly. We recommend having at least one spare battery. If your camera uses AA batteries the best choice is rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMh) batteries. Rechargeable batteries will save you money & avoid the frustration of not having enough power to take photos. Battery and charger kits start under $30.

Digital Camera Case

Digital camera cases use materials to protect your equipment without scratching the LCD screen. These also have compartments specifically for batteries and memory cards. Dan’s has a great selection starting under $10.

Card Readers

Card readers increase the speed and convenience of transferring images to your computer. They can be left connected at all times. Card readers are available for USB or Firewire connections. Prices start at $29.95.

For laptops: using a PCMCIA adapter is ideal. These transfer photos as fast as your system will allow and slide right into your laptop.

Power adapters, Optional Lenses, Underwater Housings & More

Dan’s stocks the best selection of accessories in the region. AC adapters provide constant power instead of using batteries. Optional lenses increase zoom range. We have many more items all at discounted prices.
