Digital Camera Buying Guide
Digital camera basics
Digital cameras share many of the same features and often resemble 35mm cameras. They are fully automatic, have built-in flashes and are point & shoot simple.
The difference is that digital cameras store your images electronically. They do not use film. Pictures are recorded as a computer file. These files can be downloaded to a computer to e-mail, post on a website or print.
Benefits of digital photography
- Fast access to your images. Because there is no film to develop you can instantly use your photos.
- Sharing your pictures. Since you are starting with computer files it is very convenient to send images to friends and family over the internet, post photos to web pages, sell or auction items via the internet, allow business customers to view your products or keep an online photo album for family members to share.
- Confidence you got the shot. Digital cameras have a view screen allowing you to view the images immediately after taking them. Plus you can delete any images you do not want to keep.
You don't need to use a computer!
