A two-session class devoted to teaching students to use the photographic process as meditation and prayer. Session one will teach core concepts of shooting while being fully present and open to the shooting experience. Students will be given a brief shooting assignment to complete in between sessions. Digital Journaling
The journal is the destination.
Open the doors to becoming a more complete photographer by learning new techniques, viewing inspirational images and getting hands-on experience in a supportive learning environment. Students will chronicle their learning journey in a multimedia journal, growing as photographers and artists. Students will learn how to turn their photographic passion into a personal vision through the journaling process.
Class will meet at Dan's for inspiration, instruction and feedback, then optionally meet once a week at several sites throughout the valley for short guided shooting field trips. A blank journal is required and not supplied. Various inexpensive options will be discussed in the first session.

Introduction to Portrait Retouching using CS3

Whether you are trying to remove subtle blemishes, reduce or remove wrinkles, or correct skin tones, these are all issues for today’s portrait photographer. These topics will be covered as well as reproducing effects such as soft focus and black and white conversion. Introduction to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom
with Rick Holt
Managing, organizing, and archiving images has become one of the photographer's biggest challenges in this new age of digital. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has become the workflow solution for many photographers. This seven-hour class is designed to get you up to speed using Lightroom. The class will focus on helping you use the Lightroom Library Module to edit, organize and categorize images using folders, keywords, and collections. We sill also cover the Develop Module to optimize and dust spot your images. The Output Modules for Slide Show, Web and Print will be demonstrated. At the end of the class you should have a solid grasp for using Lightroom to efficiently manage and optimize your images.
Students should bring a Compact Flash card with images from a recent shoot with them. It is best to have a number of different types of images or varying subject matter in the photos on the card. If your camera does not use a compact flash card be sure to bring your card reader with you. The classroom utilizes Windows desktop computers where students will have hands-on opportunities for practice with many of the topics covered. Should you choose to bring your own laptop, be sure you have the most recent version of Lightroom installed.

RAW File Conversion Seminar

This course is a great way to get started in Adobe CS3 with editing your RAW image captures. Shooting in RAW mode has many advantages. You'll gain better control of your white balance, exposure, highlight and shadow details, and much more.
